I tugged at the sleeve of my simple cashmere sweater, feeling distinctly underdressed among the sea of cocktail dresses and tailored suits filling the Grand Ballroom of Seattle's most exclusive hotel. The annual corporate gala was in full swing—crystal chandeliers casting a golden glow over the celebration of another record-breaking year. "Thank you," I murmured, taking a small sip. "How's the crowd tonight?"

"The usual peacocking," she replied with a subtle eye roll. "Amanda's particularly insufferable. Apparently, she's broken every sales record we've ever had."

I nodded, my gaze drifting to the stage where Marcus stood, commanding the room with effortless charisma. My husband looked every inch the tech mogul in his perfectly tailored suit, dark hair artfully styled, his smile dazzling under the spotlight. My heart still fluttered at the sight of him, even after all these years.
