Rejected Mate's Vengeance
Synopsis of Rejected Mate's Vengeance
Chapter 1
I woke up to a warm sensation beside me.
My body stiffened as I slowly turned my head, my pupils constricting in shock.
It was Kinley Taylor, my half-sister.
She lay there, naked, her dark hair tangled, her cheeks flushed with the afterglow of pleasure. She slept soundly, her breathing soft and steady.
But… how was this possible?
Six months ago, the Herrera packhouse had been consumed by flames in a single night. No one survived. Kinley had perished in that fire.
And yet, here she was, alive and well.
Was she a ghost?
I shot up in bed, my heart pounding, sweat breaking out across my skin.
The movement seemed to rouse her. She stirred, her eyes fluttering open, and then she reached out, her arm snaking around my waist.
“Sean… are you leaving already?”
Her voice was soft, dripping with a sweetness that sent a chill down my spine.
Sean?
Why was she calling me that?
I looked down at my body—broad shoulders, a flat chest, a defined abdomen, and…
My hand trembled as I reached lower, and when I touched the unmistakable male anatomy, I nearly screamed.
This wasn’t my body!
I stumbled off the bed, my legs giving way as I rushed to the vanity.
The mirror reflected a face that made my breath catch.
It was Sean Herrera, my mate.
His features were sharp, his jawline strong, but his complexion was pale, his eyes wide with fear.
It was him.
But it was also… me.
I raised a shaking hand to my face, and the reflection mimicked the movement.
What the hell was happening?
I stared at the mirror, my mind racing, my wolf stirring uneasily in the back of my consciousness.
---
Earlier that night, I had been Isabel Herrera, Alpha of the Herrera pack. Now, I was Sean, my mate—a Beta who had always been loyal, or so I thought.
My wolf growled softly, a low rumble of confusion and anger. *This isn’t right,* she murmured, her voice echoing in my mind.
I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms. No, this wasn’t right. But it was real.
Kinley stirred behind me, her voice soft and sleepy. “Sean?”
I didn’t answer. Instead, I turned away from the mirror, my mind spinning.
Sean had done this. He had switched our bodies, and now I was trapped in his. But why?
My wolf’s voice grew sharper. *Find out,* she demanded. *He’s hiding something.*
I nodded, a plan forming in my mind. If Sean had done this, he would pay. And I would make sure of it.
---
As I dressed quickly, my mind raced with possibilities. Kinley’s presence here was no coincidence. She had died in the fire, or so I had thought. But now, she was alive, and she had been with Sean.
My wolf growled again, her voice a warning. *Be careful,* she said. *This is deeper than we know.*
I glanced at Kinley, who was now sitting up in bed,
