My Bride's Ex Came to Elope With Her
Synopsis of My Bride's Ex Came to Elope With Her
Chapter 1
“Do you take this woman to be your wife? For richer or poorer, in sickness and health, will you remain faithful to her for the rest of your life?”
I looked at Bridget with deep affection and was just about to speak.
“Wait!” shouted someone urgently.
I turned around in confusion and looked toward the audience. There stood a man holding a baby in his arms. He said pleadingly, “Bridget, our child is hungry… could we pause the wedding for a moment?”
Hearing this, everyone erupted in an uproar.
It felt like a bolt of lightning had struck me. Only then did I realize that Bridget had a child with another man.
Bridget hurried off the stage, then turned to me coldly and said, “I only agreed to marry you out of obligation. But the moment Vernon appeared, I knew it. There’s no one else I want to marry but him.”
So, she took off the ring and dragged the man away without looking back.
I stood alone at the end of the aisle and clutched the undelivered ring in my hand, as a flood of bitterness crashed through every corner of my heart.
I looked down at the USB flash drive in my hand, which the emcee had just passed to me.
It did not contain the wedding video of Bridget Lindt and me, but a record that filled my heart with sorrow.
Bridget never enjoyed cooking. She always claimed that the fumes from the kitchen would damage her skin and age her.
She would not have dinner with me either. She always said that cheap meals did not match her taste.
However, this USB flash drive hid thousands of domestic moments in the kitchen between Bridget and another man.
They had chopped vegetables together and baked together. Every scene was overflowing with sweetness and happiness.
The video covered a span of six years, but I had also been in love with Bridget for six years.
While I searched for rare ingredients and tried to make gourmet meals to Bridget’s liking, while I worked overtime night after night for the sake of Bridget’s company, while I thought we were weaving a bright future together, she was sharing sweet moments and getting cozy with another man.
What shocked me even more was that while I was working day and night and drinking nonstop to entertain and get business deals, she gave birth to a child for that man.
No wonder she was reluctant to let me return to the city. She was worried that I would discover her secret.
I smiled bitterly before I returned home and began to pack my luggage.
Then, I calmly made a phone call. “Grandpa, the wedding’s canceled. From today onward, the Houde family and the Lindt family will no longer have deals and collaborate. I’ll pack up and go home to inherit the company.”
“Alright. I’ll do as you say.” On the other end of the phone, my grandfather sounded both happy and worried.
