Synopsis of When He Discovered I Was the Billionaire’s Daughter, My Ex Regretted
Chapter 1
The year of my college entrance exams, I gave up my acceptance to Harvard for James Carter.
But after five years into our relationship, I ended it.
Outside the dorm building, I caught him holding Sarah Williams, who was dripping in designer labels, locked in a passionate kiss.
James smirked, "You're just a simple farmer. What kind of life could you possibly offer me?"
But he seemed to forget that I had bought him everything - from his tailored Tom Ford suit to his Rolex watch.
Heartbroken, I walked away. If someone else wanted to be a doormat for him, they could be my guest - I was done.
Later, I focused on growing my agricultural business, eventually expanding into space farming. That's when the media uncovered my true identity as the heiress to a multi-billion dollar fortune.
Mr. Williams groveled, forcing Sarah to kneel beside him, begging me to consider a business partnership.
James, his eyes red from crying, grabbed my sleeve and said he regretted everything.
Fresh from working in the fields, I clutched a small cupcake, eager to see James.
I'd forgotten that being covered in dirt was the version of me he despised most.
At the entrance of the men's dorm, a group of guys were chattering loudly.
"James, are you dating Sarah Williams?"
“Gosh! You’re amazing, even a wealthy socialite like Sarah is chasing after you."
James's roommate's flattery made me freeze in my tracks.
I expected James to explain things, but instead, I just saw him lift his head proudly.
"Don't be ridiculous, we're just friends.
"She just invited me to a concert, that's all."
The others exchanged knowing looks and laughed.
"Just a concert? Then why hasn't Sarah invited me to any concerts?"
"She's definitely pursuing you. When are you taking her out to dinner? Let us see what it's like."
Another guy added enviously, "Well, it makes sense. James is already handsome and wealthy himself, of course he'd attract an heiress."
My chest tightened with pain.
James was my childhood sweetheart, and we'd been dating for four years.
But he never publicly acknowledged our relationship.
"Is making it public really that important?
"Love should be kept in your heart, not displayed as a post on social media."
But I accidentally discovered that Sarah was pinned at the top of his chat list.
Time after time, I compromised despite his lies, because I loved him.
But this time, I refused to back down.
I stepped out from the shade of the trees. James froze when he saw me, but quickly explained to his roommates.
"She's a senior student who needs to see me. You guys head back first, I'll be there soon."
A senior student - that's me.
And then there's Sarah.
The difference in how he treated us was crystal clear.
His roommate refused to leave and spotted the cake in my hands. He sneered, "Some ugly ducklings really think they can date a prince. Have you looked in a mirror?"
