Chapter 1

After an 800-meter run, I hide under the blanket to use the vibrating massager.

At that moment, Uncle Theo barges into my room and asks coldly, "Does it feel that good?"

I nod vigorously. The massage really does feel wonderful.

Later, he yanks off his tie and uses it to bind my wrists.

"It's too small and slow. Try me instead."

I can only stare at him in bewilderment. But Uncle Theo, it's just a massage gun!

There had to be something wrong with my school for arranging laps around the running field on the same day as the evening self-study session.

Cursing, I fished out the massage gun I had bought online and switched it on. Immediately, a wave of tingling numbness spread from my thigh, the sensation almost euphoric.

I couldn't stop myself from letting out a deep sigh of pleasure.

Just then, the door swung open.

Theo Whitman—or rather, Uncle Theo to me—stood in the doorway, backlit by the light from the corridor. His gaze was dark and unreadable.

My moan caught in my throat in an instant, and a wave of embarrassment washed over me as I hurriedly sat up straight.

"Uncle Theo, you're back."

Worried that he would find out I had been running laps as punishment, I guiltily reached out to turn off the massage gun.

However, in my panic, I accidentally pressed the button to change it to the highest speed instead.

And so, a strangely shaped object protruded from between my legs while a loud buzz cut through the silence of the room.

"What are you doing?" Uncle Theo's voice sounded a little raspy.

"I'm using this…"

As I answered, I reached down to grab the madly vibrating object, only for Uncle Theo to jerk his head to the side immediately. A red flush spread across the tips of his ears.

"How could you be so shameless as to show it to me? Turn it off!"

Was he really that old-fashioned that he couldn't even accept a massage gun? Then just how tense must his muscles be after he spent all day bent over a desk?

A wave of sympathy washed over me. Feeling bad for the man, I decided to introduce him to the wonderful world of massage guns.

I cleared my throat before saying, "There's no need to turn it off. You can come sit here and try it out. It really feels very good!"

Uncle Theo's brows twitched. "Do you have any idea what you're saying?"

I wasn't surprised that he was scared. After all, such a large object was buzzing madly under the covers. It was indeed a daunting prospect.

At that thought, I quickly switched the massage gun to a more relaxing pace. Gripping it in my right hand, I ignored the vibrations on my palm and patiently explained it to him.

"It imitates human movements, but in a more exaggerated manner. Besides that, it can reach deep inside to thoroughly relax the body. It's even better than a person's touch!"

Uncle Theo frowned, and when he spoke, his voice was lower than he realized. "You even tried a real person's touch?"

"Well, no."

Seeing him rub his temples in frustration and annoyance, I suddenly felt a little bit guilty. Ever since he took me in, he had been so busy with work that he left early in the morning and returned late at night.

It was no wonder he didn't have any time to try new things and adapt.

After that bout of self-reflection, I rolled up my sleeves before hugging his thigh.

"Don't be scared, Uncle Theo. How about I use my hands first to help you get familiar with it? You'll like it."

The muscles beneath my hands were truly firm and solid. I took advantage of the situation to grope him a few times and eagerly leaned closer.

Suddenly, I was reminded of those incredibly handsome male protagonists in romance novels. If I were one of those female protagonists, I would've eagerly submitted to those men too!

Yet just as I was a hair's breadth away from Uncle Theo's abs, I was lifted into the air mercilessly, just like one would pick up a baby chick.

"Brooke Dalton!"

I shuddered in fright.

At that moment, the folded note my best friend, Mandy Lane, and I had been passing between us during class that day slipped out of my pocket and fell to the floor.

It would be far too humiliating if the details of our conversation saw the light of day.

I hurriedly called out, "Don't look!"

I reached out in a panic to snatch it away, but Uncle Theo had already unfolded the piece of paper.

Mandy had started by asking, "What are you daydreaming about?"

I responded, "I'm thinking about kissing my husband. Now stop bothering me."

I didn't actually have a husband. I was referring to my favorite singer—Callum Hemmings, a man I was absolutely crazy about.

However, I knew that if I told the stubborn, conservative Uncle Theo that, it would only make the situation worse.

Unexpectedly, my silence made him lose his composure.

"You… have a boyfriend?"

It was the first time I had ever heard his voice tremble.

"You bought that because of him?"

Uncle Theo's eyes were dark and boundless like a night sky.

Chapter 2

Callum was the brand ambassador for this massage gun, so it wouldn't exactly be wrong to say I had bought it because of him. So I steeled myself and nodded.

Uncle Theo's breathing grew heavier as he crumpled the paper note and tossed it to the ground. I could see his hands shaking.

"Do you think of him when you use it?"

In a way, yes. As expected of something Callum had vouched for, the massage gun was genuinely useful, so I nodded once more.

"You'd better distance yourself from him!" Uncle Theo forced the words out through gritted teeth. "And I never want to see such a thing in my house ever again!"

Why was he banning me from using a massage gun? I almost burst into tears at the thought.

"But… I'm really suffering a lot! It's so unbearable!"

Taking a deep breath, Uncle Theo asked in an exasperated tone, "Do you love the feeling that much?"

Bobbing my head in a "yes", I bit my lower lip and pleaded with puppy-dog eyes.

"Or… maybe you could help me?"

If Uncle Theo grew tired of giving me a massage, who was to say he wouldn't give me permission to continue using the massage gun?

His eyes darkened so much that they were pitch-black.

"Please," I begged with a pout. At the same time, I reached a hand under my nightgown to rub my increasingly sore legs.

I had already run five laps around the field before the evening self-study session, yet because I got caught talking, the teacher had made me run five laps as punishment.

Which delicate and beautiful girl could stand running ten laps in a day?

Gnashing his teeth, Uncle Theo grabbed my hand to make me stop what I was doing.

"Stop moving!"

Then, he closed his eyes and let out a long, helpless sigh. "Go take a shower and wait for me downstairs."

Great! This was a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I wanted to thoroughly enjoy myself.

First, I extended the couch to turn it into a couch bed and then put on a movie that had been on my to-watch list for a while now. Once everything was set up, I waited for Uncle Theo to come.

While scrolling through my phone, I unexpectedly came across a new post on the forum.

"The girl I have a crush on has a boyfriend, yet she invited me to sleep with her. What should I do?"

The poster was really a moral model—I was quick to tap on the post to read further.

"I spent 15 years by the side of the girl I have a crush. Today, she told me she already has a boyfriend. Yet she still wants me to ease her suffering. What do I do?"

This person spent 15 years by a girl's side? Why did that sound somewhat familiar?

Although a strange feeling gnawed at me, I was overcome by my love for gossip and didn't think on it further.

I replied, "She definitely has feelings for you. Otherwise, she would've given up and started ignoring you by the tenth year."

The person who posted this was a user named “HeartbrokenDog”, whose profile photo was a brook. It was clear he was quite upset and had been staring at his phone while waiting for a reply, as he replied to my comment almost immediately.

"But she usually avoids me as though she's terrified of me."

For some reason, I was suddenly reminded of how Uncle Theo would confiscate my novels whenever he saw them and how he would head out to drag me home if I was out even a minute past my curfew.

I couldn't stop a shiver from running through me, even as my fingers flew across my screen.

"Are you normally quite stern with her?"

"I'm older than her by a few years, so I tend to be a little stricter and more controlling."

And there it was. Case closed!

I continued comforting him, saying, "There's no doubt she likes you. Who knows? Maybe she's lying about having a boyfriend? Why don't you probe her a little more later? She'll definitely crack!"

As my screen went dark, a sense of accomplishment and self-satisfaction surged in me.

How wonderful! I had managed to help yet another lost soul!

Nevertheless, I couldn't shake the image of Uncle Theo from my mind. It was as though he had taken root there.

He loved to keep me on a tight leash, and sometimes I became quite annoyed and fed up with him. Regardless, I was well aware that I couldn't live without him. In fact, I even felt happy when he was possessive of me. After all, it meant he cared for me.

Realizing that that sounded rather perverse, I quickly covered my face with my hands.

I couldn't help but wonder—if there was a different side to Uncle Theo, would he show it to me?

My cheeks grew warm at that thought.

Just then, I heard Uncle Theo's footsteps coming down the stairs, growing closer to me.

Before I could stop myself, I looked up at him, only to widen my eyes in shock.

His lit phone screen displayed the post I had responded to earlier!

Chapter 3

Could Uncle Theo actually be "HeartbrokenDog"?

I immediately ducked my head as my emotions churned.

I had to find out the truth.

"Feeling shy?"

Uncle Theo's lean figure slowly approached me before I felt the couch dip under his weight.

My tongue felt as though it had twisted into a knot as I answered, "A little."

The distinct scent of pinewood—his favorite—wrapped around me. I fumbled for the remote and picked a random blockbuster to watch.

"Uncle Theo, let's watch a movie first!"

"Okay."

Behind me, his fingers tapped against the back of the couch lightly. The pleasing scent of his body wash drifted into my nose, making my heart stir.

"This movie would help get you in the mood."

Were all successful people that meticulous and fussy? They needed to get in the mood first, even for a massage.

As I racked my brain to come up with a reply, the male and female leads appeared on the screen.

They embraced each other before crushing their lips together in a kiss. The suggestive sounds they made were particularly loud in the silent living room.

I hurriedly turned my head away, only to lock eyes with Uncle Theo's heated gaze.

"Does he know we're watching this kind of movie?"

Did Uncle Theo have to be so flirtatious? Also, just who was he referring to?

The atmosphere between us grew charged, and my brain—which wasn't the brightest to begin with—seemed to slow down even more.

Right then, the male lead started to unbutton the female lead's shirt.

Feeling my mouth go dry all of a sudden, I swallowed. A tingling sensation ran down my spine.

Meanwhile, Uncle Theo leaned closer and reached out to tuck a stray lock of hair behing my ear.

His voice drifted into my ear, all seductive and mesmerizing. "Does he know we're about to start?"

With that, his hand trailed from my ear to the back of my neck and further down to the button at my collarbone. His fingers brushed my skin, sending a shock of electricity through me. My heart began to race inexplicably.

Oh, I really hated him.

Why was I already in a haze, with a strange warmth coursing through me? My breath came out in short pants, and my head was spinning.

Yet he sat there, looking perfectly fine. Not just that—he even had an amused look in his eyes, as though he had everything under control.

When his hand finally came to a stop on the button at my collar, I suddenly seized his fingers.

He paused in surprise and glanced at me, an expectant look in his eyes. "Are you going to confess something?"

I thought, "Me, confess? No, you're the one who has to confess. Are you 'HeartbrokenDog'? The man who has been by a girl's side for 15 years and liked her for many, many years?"

I deliberately guided his hand back to my collarbone when he moved it away.

"Uncle Theo, why do you keep asking me about someone else?"

Uncle Theo's hand jerked, and his breath grew quicker. His demeanor reminded me of a dog panicking upon having its secret discovered.

Seeing that, I grew increasingly bold.

From the corner of my eyes, I saw that the female lead had planted herself on the male lead's lap. I imitated her movements rather clumsily as I crawled onto Uncle Theo's lap. Then, I started to draw circles on his noticeably tensed thighs.

"Could it be that you're jealous?"

To my surprise, I realized I hadn't been sitting securely, and with my legs still sore, I lost my balance when I moved my hand.

I toppled backward. Just as I thought I had taken things too far this time, a strong arm shot out and supported my back firmly.

With that, I was now lying flat on his arm. I didn't even need to do anything as he carefully pulled me back to the couch.

His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed, and his rough fingertips brushed against my slightly parted lips.

"Yeah."

The low grunt was in answer to my earlier question.

"Why are you small everywhere?"

He manhandled me so that I was straddling his hips, and for a moment, I forgot how to move. All I could do was feel the hand that had saved me earlier gently rub the hem of my shirt before reaching for the soft flesh of my waist.
