Chloe showed no concern for my pain and roughly dragged me toward the hospital.

Just as we reached the emergency department’s entrance, we ran into my in-laws, who had rushed over after hearing the news.

My father-in-law, who had always been polite to me, instantly flew into a rage when he saw Jason in apparent pain. He slapped me hard across the face.

My mother-in-law, who had always spoken gently, now looked twisted with fury.

“Jason is the one who gave us the Hayes family’s golden grandson! He’s our family’s benefactor!

“I’m telling you, Shawn, if you dare lay a finger on Jason again, I’ll have you thrown out of the Hayes family immediately!”

These two elderly people had shown me more warmth and care as my elders than anyone else since my parents passed away.

After more than a decade together, I had believed there was at least a shred of a genuine relationship between us.

Vivian rushed out with several freshly-printed test results in hand, cutting me off furiously.

“The doctor said it already! Jason has severe heart damage and is in a life-threatening condition. He needs a heart transplant immediately! This is all your fault!”

My mother-in-law erupted even more violently when she heard this. She actually lifted her hard-soled high heel and kicked viciously toward my lower body.

I failed to dodge in time, feeling a wave of excruciating pain as I let out a miserable cry.

“Serves you right! I knew you had bad intentions!

“You’re a useless man who can’t even perform properly or have children, so you can’t stand seeing Jason doing well!

“At the end of the day, you’re just worthless! You deserve to die alone and take your bloodline with you!”

Vivian’s face was filled with disappointment and rage.

“I’ve already called the police. Shawn, you can reflect on your actions in prison.

“From now onward, we’re no longer siblings!”

Already weak and injured, I was barely hanging on after being beaten by my in-laws.

Still, Chloe dragged me all the way into Jason’s ward with a dark expression.

“On your knees!”

Before I could react, she kicked the back of my knees hard.

I collapsed heavily onto the cold floor tiles, facing Jason on the hospital bed.

Jason’s face was pale as he put on a pitiful expression.

“Chloe, Shawn just acted on impulse and accidentally hurt me. I’m fine. Don’t blame him.”

Chloe’s eyes immediately reddened.

She grabbed my hair and slammed my head violently against the floor.

“Look at Jason! He’s already this badly hurt, yet he’s still speaking up for you!

“But you still dare to slander him, you heartless, ungrateful b*stard?! Kneel and apologize to him right now!”

A sticky warmth spread across my forehead.

Only when the pain became so intense that I was about to lose consciousness did Chloe finally let go.

She looked down at me from above, her voice as cold as ice.

“Jason’s heart was injured because of you. Now, you’ll make things right for him.”

Before I was dragged into the operating room, I gathered my last bit of strength and opened my eyes.

Jason was nestled in Chloe’s arms, looking back at me with a provocative smile.

Halfway through the surgery, the senior professor who was supposed to operate on me was suddenly called away by a phone call. He was replaced by an intern nurse.

She did not give me anesthesia. Instead, she cut into me ruthlessly with a scalpel, replacing my heart with a pig’s heart.

The pain nearly made me pass out. I tried to speak, but another wave of searing agony cut me off.

The intern nurse sneered, “Who do you think you are?

“To tell you the truth, the professor was called away to treat Mr. Wade’s minor finger injury.

“So just endure the pain quietly.”

As the last of my blood was about to be drained out of my body, I finally lost consciousness on the operating table.

“Shawn, don’t you think you can do whatever you want just because I love you. Taking your heart was just a small lesson.

“Once Jason and I have our child, you’d better cherish your chance at redemption and take good care of us.

“Otherwise, I’ll make sure to ruin your life so much you’ll wish you were dead!”

I stared blankly at the ceiling, like an empty shell with no soul left inside.

That night, I dragged my half-living body out of the hospital.

Just as I reached the entrance, Chloe’s video call popped up.

I watched the screen as Chloe, who had always been conservative, went all out to please Jason.

The background was filled with the sound of movement and a woman’s suppressed moans.

Jason breathed heavily and asked, “Chloe, who’s better? Me or Shawn?”

Chloe’s raspy voice came through, filled with overwhelming pleasure.

“Jason, he can’t even compare to you.”

Jason’s face revealed unrestrained arrogance and satisfaction.

“Since Shawn can’t behave himself, why not sell him to the black market so he can learn some rules? That way, he won’t come back trying to target me again.”

Chloe did not hesitate at all, responding with breathless, soft gasps of agreement.

“Whatever you say, honey…”

I hung up expressionlessly.

If this had been before, I would have exploded in anger. However, now…

My lawyer had just texted me a photo of the finalized divorce certificate.

‘Chloe, I used to love you, so I tolerated what you did to me again and again.

After finishing with Jason, Chloe finally remembered me in the haze of her satisfaction.

When she realized I had not gone home after being discharged, she frowned and called me.

However, the line only played an automated message, “This number was no longer in service.”

A sudden, inexplicable panic gripped her.

At that moment, her secretary’s urgent call came through. His voice was filled with unprecedented terror.

“Miss Hayes! Mr. Collins burned all the company’s contracts and orders at the headquarters, and he’s already left the country with his luggage!”
