Chapter 6: Crossing Into Luxury

AVELINE

I stared between him and Desmond, wondering what was going on, but I chose to remain silent. Who am I to speak? I thought. And then, he looked at me, his voice sharp and calculated.

"We are leaving... Kitten."

His last word shocked me to the core as I stared at him with shock. I never expected him to call me that... I couldn't find the right words to use. When I turned to look at Desmond, I could see the same shock on his face and then something else, which looked like anger... jealousy.

As the alpha king pushed the door open, waiting for me to pass by, I gave Desmond another glance, which, for some reason, emitted a growl from the alpha, again shocking me.

The moment I stepped out, I felt like the entire pack was out, waiting for me. Among them, I could see my brother Ren standing in the forefront, his eyes looking pained but immediately looking scared. I turned back, wondering what must have made him scared, and when I looked, it was the alpha king staring at him. I saw him hesitating for a second before I saw him raise his chin up as he approached him. My eyes widened at his actions, hoping I could stop him before he did something foolish. I couldn't want today to end with bloodshed.

But his words shocked me the more as I heard gasps escape from their lips when he faced the alpha.

"Alpha King, it's an honor to be in your presence... but... but please let no harm fall upon my sister... she... doesn't deserve any more pain."

He said, and he bowed and left. My eyes watered at his words. 'My brave Ren,' I thought. And he gave me a hug, his hands wrapping around me again, not letting go.

As I stared at the SUVs and cars standing a few feet away from me, my mouth widened with shock. There were more than twenty cars standing at the entrance, and I couldn't count them all because the more I looked, the more they seemed to multiply.

The ride to the Crescent Dominion pack was slow and quiet. For some reason, I was in a different car with the alpha king, and I was glad that I was in a different car with him.

But Christy was there with me, though she never said a word, which I was so grateful for.

The moment we crossed the border of the pack, I felt the link of my pack breaking off, my head getting lighter as I felt whatever connection I had with my pack breaking away. But I could still hear the little whispers in my head, but not as loud as before.

I had never left the pack before, and this wasn't just normal traveling. It was me cutting off ties from my pack and going to another pack.

I didn't know how long the ride took, but when I opened my eyes and looked through the window, I found myself staring at a large villa. Its building was so high that I couldn't see the end of it. It was so huge, bigger than my previous pack by ten times, and everything here screamed money. I felt my throat go dry at the huge compound and the beautiful grass glistening under the moonlight. The moon was shining so brightly here, more than it shone in my pack.

Now, I understand why they refer to the north packs as the moon packs, especially the Crescent Dominion pack as the ruling pack.

"Welcome to the Crescent Dominion Pack."

Christy said, helping me step down from the Cybertruck.

"Is this the alpha king's base?"

I asked, knowing my question was foolish, and she chuckled.

"Yes, it is. Only the alpha, the beta, and a few of the gammas stay here."

She said, leading me into the villa. I noticed that there were only a few cars that followed us back.

"Where's the alpha?"

I asked, looking at her. The pack members looked rich and expensive, and I looked like a maid in these tattered, unkempt clothes. I could see some members of the pack whispering among themselves, some of their faces filled with disgust, some filled with pity, and it made my skin crawl.

I felt like shit giving them a first bad impression, making me feel like I didn't belong here.

I pushed the thoughts out of my head. I wasn't going to jump to conclusions yet.

"He went off along the way for some pack meetings. He'll be back soon."

She said, leading me inside, and I was grateful I was out of reach from those festering eyes.

The moment I stepped in, I gasped. This was the most stunning villa I'd ever seen. Its designs were so rich, so filled with wealth, that I wondered how long it took for the architect to bring this to life.

The door had opened to a wide hall, which didn't look empty but was filled with cushions and looked so homely, with a large TV like a cinema and a few children playing around with a few pack warriors. There was a huge chandelier above-like at least five of them. The room looked so homely, so lively, that I felt a knot tie in my belly.

For a moment, I wondered if the tales had been true about him being dangerous.

Maybe I would find out later.

Christy led me through multiple staircases. Along the way, she showed me some parts of the house, the rooms, and all of that. We reached the fifth floor, and by now my legs were aching so badly. The house was so huge that I felt I could get lost in it.

"There's an elevator. I just wanted to show you around so you get more familiar with your environment and maybe not venture into the north wing section of the house."

She said, looking in the direction of a large corridor that looked dim, with just blue lights surrounding it.

"Your room is in the south wing of the house, so opposite to his."

I stared at her, confused by her words. She gave me a gentle smile that reached her eyes. I was grateful that at least someone was being kind to me in this pack.

"THE NORTH WING BELONGS TO THE ALPHA KING. That's his quarters, and I do suggest-or rather advise-you stay away from that corner."

She said, and I found myself nodding at her words, my cheeks blazing hot as I thought about her words. My quarters were filled with so much light that I felt blinded by it, but his... his looked so... like him. Dark and intimidating.

I stared at the large corridor leading to his quarters, then slowly followed Christy inside, my eyes wandering everywhere, still marveling at the luxury villa.

The moment we stepped in, my mouth flew open at the room. Fuck, this was the most beautiful, queenly room I'd ever seen. A huge bed stood in the middle, which at least ten people could lie on, and there were a lot of beautiful pieces of wall art beautifully placed on the wall. The room screamed wealth so much that I felt my eyes become glassy. I wasn't expecting to be in this sort of wealth, and I felt so intimidated by the aura of luxury this room screamed.

"Is this how every room looks?"

I suddenly asked, not able to shut my mouth, but it was already too late.
